Traffic dynamics in scale-free networks with limited packet-delivering capacity

چکیده
We propose a limited packet-delivering capacity model for traffic dynamics in scale-free networks. In this model, the total node’s packet-delivering capacity is fixed, and the allocation of packet-delivering capacity on node i is proportional to k i , where ki is the degree of node i and φ is a adjustable parameter. We have applied this model on the shortest path routing strategy as well as the local routing strategy, and found that there exists an optimal value of parameter φ leading to the maximal network capacity under both routing strategies. We provide some explanations for the emergence of optimal φ.

Traffic dynamics based on local routing protocol on a scale-free network.
We propose a packet routing strategy with a tunable parameter based on the local structural information of a scale-free network. As free traffic flow on the communication networks is key to their normal and efficient functioning, we focus on the network capacity that can be measured by the critical point of phase transition from free flow to congestion. Simulations show that the maximal capacit...

The effect of link and node capacity on traffic dynamics are investigated in weighted scale-free networks by adopting a traffic routing model with local node strength information: Pl→i = S i ∑

There are huge petitions of network traffic coming from various applications on Internet. In dealing with this volume of network traffic, network management plays a crucial rule. Traffic classification is a basic technique which is used by Internet service providers (ISP) to manage network resources and to guarantee Internet security. In addition, growing bandwidth usage, at one hand, and limit...
متن کاملAn efficient approach of controlling traffic congestion in scale-free networks
We propose and study a model of traffic in communication networks. The underlying network has a structure that is tunable between a scale-free growing network with preferential attachments and a random growing network. To model realistic situations where different nodes in a network may have different capabilities, the message or packet creation and delivering rates at a node are assumed to dep...
متن کاملOnset of traffic congestion in complex networks.
Free traffic flow on a complex network is key to its normal and efficient functioning. Recent works indicate that many realistic networks possess connecting topologies with a scale-free feature: the probability distribution of the number of links at nodes, or the degree distribution, contains a power-law component. A natural question is then how the topology influences the dynamics of traffic f...
